so what are rules of thumb for the first cap and then what can you do with subsequent caps... There is lots to be written and seeing all your nice schematics without any way to construct power supplies means your articles only live in print for me.

I see your point. I know that the power supply is the biggest headache for many would be tube constructors. If time permits, I will try to put together a group of power supply design examples. One problem is that high voltage transformers becoming harder and harder to find as NOS stock is used up.
